Because of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross and resurrection from the dead, we can be saved from the terrible, self-pleasing, death-causing effects of sin and made new in Christ. This has been God’s mission since Adam and Eve turned away from God in the Garden of Eden. Not only this, but Christ has sent us out on that same mission that God began so long ago. We get to be part of turning others back to God! Jesus told us he will be with and that he has given us his Holy Spirit to empower us to finish the mission (Matthew 28: 18-20; Acts 1:8).
At Clear Spring, we seek to fulfill Jesus’ mission for us in various ways. First, we want to do missions. This involves going on mission trips anywhere from across the world to our own local community. We want to serve others and tell them the wonderful news that through Jesus, we can be made right with God, be forgiven of our sins and made new in Christ. These trips involve working at orphanages and summer camps in Romania, serving the people of Philadelphia, or helping build a better Simpsonville. Second, and more importantly, we want to live missionally. This means that we ask the question, “How can I fulfill Jesus’ mission in every aspect of my life, from my job to my family life to the sports I play to the neighbors I befriend. We want Jesus’ mission of redemption to permeate every aspect of our lives.
Please join us in our efforts to fulfill Jesus’ mission. Participate in our trips. Seek to serve those around you. Pray for us as we engage the world in missions.
